Who’s Kumar?
OMG, which part of Ulu Pandan have you been hiding in? Kumar is the undisputed drag queen of Singapore who has been entertaining audiences with his unique brand of comedy for the last 20 years and audiences just can’t seem to get enough. He errmm… She has wow-ed crowds in well-remembered cabaret clubs like The Boom Boom Room and Gold Dust. Besides “live” stand-up comedy, Kumar is also a household name because of her appearances on television and film.
Television credits include guest appearances on Phua Chu Kang, Police and Thief, My Sassy Neighbour and notably, The Ra Ra Show (Mediacorp). Most recently, Kumar helmed popular food entertainment programme Asian Eat List. Kumar was also a host for Arts Central’s Front for 2 seasons. Film credits include roles in highly acclaimed productions such as Forever Fever (Directed by Glen Goei) and One Leg Kicking (Directed by Khoo Koh).
In October 2007, Dream Academy® produced a cabaret extravaganza, Kumar The Queen, which enjoyed a sold-out run at the Esplanade Theatre. In 2009, Kumar starred in Kumar: Stripped bare and standing-up and, by popular demand, the show returned to the Esplanade in 2010. In 2011, Kumar was back at Esplanade Theatre with a sell-out show of Kumar’s Amazing Race and the show returned in 2012. In 2013, Kumar appeared again at the Esplanade Theatre with a sold-out run of with KUMAR: What Makes a Man a Man? He was also part of the stellar cast of Happy Ever Laughter®, Crazy Christmas 2012, Crazy Christmas Ting Tong Belles and HAPPY EVER LAUGHTER® Standup Comedy Madness!
