Staying safe at home during the COVID-19 Circuit Breaker period does not mean sacrificing some of your favourite dishes. To celebrate our Mom’s birthday, we went on a digital search for quality chilli crab delivery in Singapore. The usual well-known names did pop up but the prices are pretty hefty. 8 Crabs Singapore, a premium seafood importer caught our eyes with its wild catch crabs fresh from Sri Lanka. The best part – they are able to deliver our favourite Chilli Crab at a reasonable price together with a decent selection of popular zhi char dishes. We decided to give them a try.

Although 8 Crabs Singapore website wasn’t exactly built for eCommerce, selecting dishes and sending them off to the cart was pretty easy and straight-forward. 
We got to preview our orders before keying in our billing and delivery details.
In view of the current COVID-19 situation, they also allowed for contactless delivery. We believed we made the rookie mistake of not requesting for utensils. We suspect utensils here meant the special crab cracker tool. If you do not have one, make sure you request for it for an easier time with the crabs.
True to their promise, a petite lady donning a mask delivered our food at around 6.30pm. 
The packaging was very efficient. The containers kept the dishes warm and avoided spillage which can be a major problem with chilli crab and all its delicious gravy. 
We can’t wait to plate the main dish! In case you are new to Singapore, Chilli Crab is a seafood dish in which the stir-fried crustacean is drenched in a sweet, savoury and spicy tomato-based sauce.

Their extra-large version of crab was huge. Despite using the largest plate we could find at home, we could not plate the entire crab. One portion of its legs was left in the container together with loads of the gravy. Btw, the folks behind 8 Crabs are big on freshness. Apparently, their Sri Lankan crabs arrive daily to Singapore through 4-hour air freight and get sent straight to their kitchens within 2.5 hours. Not forgetting the 2 other dishes we ordered. The Sweet & Sour Fish Slices was decent zhi char quality. The fish flesh was tender and goes well with the sweet and tangy tomato-based sauce. 8 Crabs also had other recommended dishes such as Signature Coffee Pork Ribs and Premium Pork Rib King but fish has always been Mom’s favourite hence we decided to give the other two options a miss. 
We also order stir-fried Kailan for our greens. The vegetable was fresh and added the crunch factor to our meal. The only downside was that the chef might have added a tad too much salt. 
Last but not least, our deep-fried buns (also known as Mantous) went well with the Chili Crab!
The crab had so much roe from the back of its shell that some of it got mixed together with the thick gravy. The two giant pincers were succulent with loads of crab flesh in them. If we had the correct crab tools at home, we would be able to show you the picture-perfect chunk of flesh from the pincers. Words simply cannot describe the pure joy of biting into huge chunks of crab flesh. 
At the end of the meal, our fried mantous came in handy to soak up the remaining bites of gravy goodness from our plates.
