Au Cirque – Ever Had Rainbow Trout For Breakfast?

I missed waking up at Bowen Terrace Accommodations at New Farm, Brisbane where delicious western breakfast joints are just around the corner. Having tried The Little Larder, I turned my attention to Au Cirque Cafe which was also just a stone throw away.

It was a mistake not waking up early on a Saturday morning particularly when visiting a popular cafe that’s famous for its breakfast. Thankfully, there were plenty of beautiful people to watch while waiting.

I strategically positioned myself beside a makeshift standing table top and ordered coffee.

Having breakfast alone has its perks – its easy to get a table for one. I am soon out of the transit walkway.

Floral graphics adorn the wall of the cafe interior.

I got a good seat where I can enjoy a 180 degree view of the whole ground floor. I decided to get something less common for breakfast today.

While waiting for meal, I sneaked upstairs to take a look. The upper floor was spacious and well suited for group gatherings. However, there’s less opportunity to people watch and the décor was kinda bare. You better be here with really interesting people.

I got back just in time for my Smoked Rainbow Trout With Poached Eggs, Truffle Oil & Spinach!

There was nothing rainbow with the trout but the colours could have been used to describe this unique union. Especially with the runny egg yolks – just the way I like them.

Well hidden under a layer of fresh spinach and truffle oil was a generous portion of luscious trout.

I took my time to appreciate hearty breakfast & coffee before proceeding to make payment at the counter.

Jars of delectable munchies were placed purposefully beside the counter – just in case you still have room for more.

I really enjoyed my breakfast at Au Cirque and I think I made an excellent choice with a unique breakfast entrée. If you are planning to make a trip over, try to give the weekends a miss so that you can have the cafe more to yourself.
