AspirantSG is thrilled to be awarded 4th Travel Blog in Singapore for Skyscanner Bloscars Travel Award 2014. This prestigious award recognises the excellent work by travel bloggers from Asia & Europe and pay tribute to their dedication to the blog trade. After 2 years of slogging behind the blog, I have finally made a significant progress. To celebrate the win, I decided to throw a mini celebration party with my closest friends at Ibis Novena.
Why the hotel? Well, I preferred somewhere central where its convenient for my friends to drop by. The hotel is just less than 10 minutes walk away from Novena MRT station and well served by a good network of roads.
Tourists especially will love its prime location.
I enjoyed a quick and fuss free check in at around 3pm.
The room was clean and just the right size for the cozy gathering tonight.
The folks at the hotel prepared a welcome note with freshly baked Tau Sar Piah from the famous ‘House Of Tau Sae Piah’ that’s located right beside the hotel! Aww… I feel so loved.
There are actually numbers indicated on the Tau Sar Piah! Can buy 4D – 6, 2, 0 and my personal secret number, huat ah!
At first, I thought I had to walk over to the nearby Novena Square to stock up on my party essentials. I am pleasantly surprised that there is a Zhongshan Mall located right across the road. Managed to get everything in double quick time! With everything prepared, I left the hotel for the Skyscanner Bloscars Travel Award 2014 Awards Ceremony.
It was a privilege visiting Skyscanner Corporate Office and receiving my award from Andy Sleigh, Skyscanner’s General Manager for Asia Pacific (APAC).
The awards also offered us a good opportunity to network with some of the best travel bloggers in the region. Don’t be surprise to see more guest posts and collaborations with fellow regional bloggers in the near future!

After the main awards celebration, I rushed back to Ibis Novena for round 2 of the celebration with my closest friends!
It was wonderful being able to share the joy over lots of alcohol *burp. Thank you everyone for popping by the party! It was nice to catch up again after a while. Time to zonk out!
The breakfast buffet served at Oopen Restaurant was a welcoming start to a brand new day. This ‘all-you-can-eat buffet’ served between 6.30 and 10 am combined all the elements of a traditional continental breakfast.
I enjoyed the breakfast spread, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a bit of people watching. It was a nice lazy way to start the weekends.
I really enjoyed my stay at Ibis Novena. The room was clean, comfortable, cozy and yet spacious enough for a mini party. I must also give special thanks to the friendly staff at the hotel for going out of their way to make my stay a memorable one. Especially the restaurant chef for allowing me to keep my ice cubes, ice creams, soft drinks and wines chilled at his kitchen. If you will like to check out the hotel, here are the full details:
