Destin has been recognized as “the luckiest fishing village in the world”. The annual Rodeo is a celebration of the blessings bestowed on these great fishermen, with more than 30,000 saltwater anglers taking part, competing for big rights, prizes and cash. With Destin’s annual rodeo gaining popularity as the “Ultimate Saltwater Tournament”, the number of prizes and awards expands each year. Booking a charter with a registered captain automatically enables all anglers to enter the tournament at no extra charge, and you are still in the race for an award-winning placement in weightlifting.
The 72nd Annual Destin Fishing Rodeo Event Schedule
The 72nd annual Destin Florida Fishing Rodeo will officially launch on October 1, 2020 and run until October 31, 2020.
Every day there are weights on the dock behind AJ’s Seafood and Oyster bar where you will meet Broad Chavez, Rodeo V Master, and 2020 Miss Destin, Lauren Adams. The weigh-in program is free for the public, as are the stories of the legendary V-Master. The Anglers will bring their catches for the placement league weight day on board and take pictures with Miss Destin.
A Fishing Tournament for the Whole Family
The deep-sea fishing tournament is great for prosperous fishermen of all backgrounds. What is the need to differentiate Destin Fishing Rodeo from other tournaments on children during the event? The biggest investment that the fishing communities have in the United States is in our children. Destin Fishing Rodeo is a time to incorporate children and families into the traditions of coastal life.
Every child who enters the tournament weighing at least one pound wins a prize and will receive a formal rodeo certificate. This is not one of those where everyone gets a trophy for trying organizations. Instead, Destin, Florida’s deep-sea fishing community aims to plant a seed of inspiration in the hearts of young children who have had the opportunity to experience true love for fishing.
Shark Saturdays
Shark Saturdays are one of the most interesting events in the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo. Anglers are allowed only one entry for the day, and since the sharks entered the biggest win, shark hunters are looking for bigger ones. Over the years, we’ve seen some on large scale sharks come in from the gulf.
This October, Saturday will provide a thrill for everyone to remember. The slogan for the 2020 Shark Week Tournament is Hang M High. The bigger the shark, the higher it hangs.
For the best possibilities of catching a winning bull shark or mako, we suggest an overnight charter leaving Friday nights in October to arrange with plenty of time to catch some other entry fish while we’re out and to come back to the weigh-ins at AJ’s on Saturday.
Fish the Days and Rock the Nights
What’s better than a deep-sea fishing weekend in Destin, Florida? Well, nothing really. But to form a far better experience, HarborWalk Village is hosting a celebration every Saturday night in October, beginning October 1st from 7:00 PM through 9:30 PM. Fireworks will illuminate the Destin Harbor at 9:00 PM. The Fish the times and Rock the Nights event is absolute to the general public, so bring the family down, watch the rodeo weigh-ins behind AJ’s from 10 AM-7 PM, so head to the village for live entertainment, music, and also the freshest local seafood that you just can find!
