For years, the UK has been one of the burgeoning hotspots for students looking to study new subjects from around the world. What with the emerging job market in the UK expanding at an alarming rate and the standard of education rising all the time, it’s hardly a surprise to see students for around the world wanting to come and study. Save Your Money:
Whether you’re new to the UK or you have lived here your whole life, you need to make sure that you keep an eye on the purse strings. You can’t afford to be without money, especially in a foreign country and given the prices of amenities (See below). The best thing for you to do is find yourself a small, part-time job that can supplement your income and can keep you busy when you’re not working. It’s a good way of beefing up your CV and it’s a great way to get yourself more money. You’ll also want to be going out on nights out with people too at some point in your time at university, so you’ll want to have money for that too. If English is not your first language then you’ll need to look into potentially learning English, while you’re in the UK.
Make Sure You Have Money to Get Home:
Lots of students that are visiting for abroad, often like to go home to see friends and family or they like to just get away for the UK for a little while. If this is the case, you’ll want to make sure that you have the money to do so. Plenty of students ends up missing out on an opportunity to see their friends and family because they have so little money to get home. Getting home can be difficult and expensive, depending on where you’re going, but we recommend that you plan in advance. If you’re going to be going home at the end of the half-term, be sure to put money aside in a separate account or something, this will prevent you from spending it, and will mean that you have an opportunity to get on with focusing on spending your money elsewhere, also the more advanced your booking is for various airlines, the better chance you have of saving money, anyway! Check If You’re Eligible for Any Loans or Funding:
This is one of the main things to keep if you’re looking to study in the UK, Plenty of people come to the UK and are completely and utterly unaware of the fact that they may be eligible for various loans or grants, either from their university or from their country’s government. The best thing for you to do is to check with your university if there are grants or loans that are offered to help foreign students out. These are difficult to apply for if you don’t know what you’re doing, but, if you’re coming straight into the UK, after you’ve finished High-School at home, ask your teachers if there are any scholarships or anything that can help you. You’ll thank yourself later when you save yourself an awful lot of money, even if it’s just there for the one term, it can be very useful for you.
Don’t Be Put Off By English Prices:
The prices are rather extortionate in the United Kingdom but don’t worry, even English people complain about them, too! The prices of things in England can be too high sometimes, so you’ll need to keep this in mind, especially if you’re going to be spending copious amounts of money. We recommend that you shop around for a bargain, where you can, and look into things like Amazon which can help you out with a lot of amenities and even offer same-day delivery if you have Amazon Prime. It is recommended that you look around and decide what you need and what you don’t need, this will help you to save money in the long-run. However, the English prices tend to fluctuate around the time of certain holidays, so you may find yourself getting a lot of bargains before you know it!
