Marina Bay Sands lit up on Wednesday night with a view to kill as the landmark building embellished itself with the iconic James Bond 007 logo across its three cascading towers, with its famous gun barrel scene projected onto the ArtScience Museum, for the Singapore premiere of the highly anticipated Bond movie, No Time To Die.
The integrated resort collaborated with entertainment powerhouse United International Pictures to create a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for seven local celebrities and influencers, where they were given the licence to experience an ultra-exclusive adventure fit for James Bond. The stars included Alan Wan, Jaze Phua, Rozz Lee, Munah Bagharib, Fiona Xie, Narelle Kheng and Allan Wu.
From specially curated meals at celebrity chef restaurants, midnight swim atop the famous Infinity Pool, and a virtual welcome from British icons David Beckham and Gordon Ramsay, Marina Bay Sands rolled out a Bond-themed staycation experience like no other.
Mr. Paul Town, Chief Operating Officer of Marina Bay Sands, said: “We are excited to work with United International Pictures for one of the biggest movie launches in Singapore this year. It’s an honour to support the Singapore premiere of No Time To Die, a film that belongs to one of the biggest movie franchises in history, and whose popularity has lived on for decades. As we welcome the return of in-person events, Marina Bay Sands hopes to continue playing an instrumental role in enlivening the art scene and showcasing Singapore as a world-class entertainment hub.”
On Wednesday, the activities kicked off with a welcome message from none other than Sands Global Ambassador David Beckham, who recorded a video message from his home in London for the seven guests. The message was played for them as they were checked in to their luxe suites by their personal butlers, and served martinis on arrival. Beckham said: “I’ve been told that you’ve got lots of exciting Bond-like experiences lined up. Just so you know, I am very jealous. I hope you have a great time and enjoy the surprises too.”
Lunch was served at the two Michelin-starred Waku Ghin at Marina Bay Sands, where celebrity chef Tetsuya Wakuda had prepared a special omakase menu that included dishes like the Marinated Botan Shrimp with Sea Urchin and Oscietra Caviar, Pan-Seared Tachiuo with Foie Gras and Fresh Japanese Fig as well as Japanese Ohmi Wagyu Steak with Wasabi and Citrus Soy. In groups of two, the local stars were also given a cocktail demo workshop where they were shown how to make their very own Vesper Martini.
The adventure was taken to greater heights on Wednesday evening, where the group enjoyed cocktails and canapes from 57-storeys above at LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar, offering them an unparalleled view of the city skyline as the sunset, before attending the movie premiere at Lido. Later that night, Allan, Jaze, Munah and Narelle were also given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take a midnight swim at Marina Bay Sands’ world-famous Infinity Pool.
The group’s Bond-themed adventure ended on a high note at Bread Street Kitchen on Thursday, where they were treated to a traditional British spread with signature dishes such as the Beef Fillet Wellington and Sticky Toffee Pudding. While being served, the stars received yet another surprise video message – this time from multi-Michelin starred restaurateur and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
To congratulate the group for all they have achieved, Ramsay said: “Hi guys, It’s Gordon! First of all, I miss you, and I just wanted to say I’m sorry I can’t be with you all today in Singapore. I know you got a big event but I promise you now, we are coming back! Now, I’m a big fan of James Bond, but let me tell you – The name is James. Gordon James. 008. Have a great day, take care of yourselves, and lots of love.”
