Pokémon Go Fans have been speculating for months on the launch of the game’s Generation 2 Pokémon from its Gold and Silver series. Well, the wait is finally over. While Singapore was in deep slumber, Niantic announced that more than 80 of their Gen 2 Pokémon will be running wild on yourPokémon Go map by the end of this week! Plus you will also be getting the new Nanab Berry as well as fun customisation options for your trainer. Although Pokémon Go has previously teased with its Pokémon Go Gen 2 Babies, this massive launch of the Johto region Pokémon is its most significant update since launch. If you have not played the game for a while, this is the time to update the app and start playing again! “Today is a momentous occasion for our team here at Niantic which has been hard at work to deliver these additional Pokémon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for our passionate global community of Trainers playing Pokémon GO,” said John Hanke, founder and Chief Executive Officer, Niantic, Inc. “Pokémon GO is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come with new gameplay features, in-game and live events, more Pokémon to discover and much more.”
In this latest update, players will be seeing more than just the Gen 2 Pokémon. There will be a reworking of the encounter/capture system, introduction of new items required for evolution, new types of berries as well as new customisation items for trainers.
Although it is unlikely that you will get the Gold/Silver legendaries in this update (even Mewtwo is not available yet), you will be able to quench your thirst to own (at least for a while) with over 80 new Pokémon.
Of all of these, the new starters include Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.
Stockpiling Finally Pays Off
Folks who have been stockpiling Pokémon and candies for Gen 2 Pokémon will be happy to note that this update means you can finally evolve Zubat into Crobat, Slowpoke into Slowking, Onix into Steelix, Chansey into Blissey, Seadra into Kingdra, Scyther into Scizor, Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon, and Porygon into Porygon 2.
New Berries
While catching Pokémon, you can now use two new Berries — the Nanab Berry, which slows a Pokémon’s movements, and the Pinap Berry, which doubles the amount of Candy received if your next catch attempt succeeds!
Customise Your Trainer!
You will also be able to customise their avatar’s appearance with a new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items. Additional items will be available for purchase from the in-game Pokémon Go shop.
