After the not-so-well received Worldwide Bloom event, Niantic is going all out to coax disappointed players back with Pokemon Go Adventure Week – one of the game best events yet! For a period of one week, the good folks at Niantic are promising increased spawn rate for rock-type Pokemon in the wild, more items per spin at PokeStop and awesome faster candy rate for your Buddy Pokemon. Believe us when we say this is one of the most valuable events yet! It’s time to plan your strategy to milk the most out of these 7 days. The week-long event will begin from 4am on 19 May 2017 (Friday) to 4am on 26 May 2017 (Friday). No time to lose, let’s get started!
1. Rock Pokemon Galore
Pokémon GO events are usually the best time to “fill in” rare Pokemon that may be missing from our Pokedexes. For Pokemon Go Adventure Week, the spawn rate for Rock Type Pokemon will spike. You MUST seize the chance to stock up on these little rock monsters!
a) Omanyte and Kabuto
These two rare Pokemon used to be only available in 10 km eggs. This is your one shot to get Omastar and Kabutops if you have yet to get it!
b) Rhyhorn and Rhydon
For folks who are looking to take down gyms, Rhyhorn and Rhydon are two Pokemon you must stock up on for this rock-based event. Rhydon is one of the highest CP Pokémon in the game right now so you should use the event to source and build up a powerful champion.
c) Larvitar
Gen 2 series equivalent of Dratini / Dragonair / Dragonite tree is Larvitar / Pupitar / Tyranitar. Tyranitar is another gym heavyweight and this may be your chance to evolve a great one for yourself, with enough of the right spawns.
d) Aerodactyl
If you have not caught an Aerodactyl yet. This is the most important and rarest Pokemon you are likely to catch from this event.
e) Onix & the rest
Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Onix, Sudowoodo, Shuckle and Magcargo are the other rock-type Pokemon that you will see more of in the event! Onix may not be that good on its own it does evolve into Steelix which is one of the best defensive Pokemon in the game. If you have the chance to catch Onix do so, get that candy, then grab a metal coat item to evolve it into Steelix.
2. Buddy Pokemon Find Candy 4x Faster
This is definitely the best bonus Pokemon Go has ever offered. You can now walk your buddy Pokémon and get candy 4x faster, effectively cutting down your buddy distance down by four – 0.25 for 1 km, 0.75 for 3 km and 1.25 for 5 km. To evolve or power up rare Pokemon that you can never get in the wild, the buddy system is the only way hence in our opinion, the reduced buddy distance is even more valuable than double candy. Plan your Buddy Pokemon well within these 7 days to reap the best benefits.
During the event, you will need to strategise which Pokemon to assign as your Buddy because it will find Candy four times the usual rate. This is great news for trainers who are hoping to evolve some rare Pokemon.
3. More Items Per PokeStop
Pokemon Go Adventure Week will offer more items at each PokeStop. With every spin, you might get five or even six items, instead of the usual three.
4. Adventurer’s Hat Up For Grabs!
There is a brand new customisation option for your trainer in store! The Adventurer’s Hat will be available free for all trainers during the event. No one knows if it will be free after the Adventure Week is over so better grab yours while it last.
5. 50% off Pokeballs In Store
To help you stock up for your upcoming adventure, the price of Poke Balls will be slashed by 50% from the in-game shop! So if you are not located near any PokeStops, you may wanna go for the sale.
