With cats cafe fast becoming one of the latest craze in Singapore’s cafe culture, I thought it would be interesting to check out a similar concept cafe in Bangkok, Thailand. Just a short ten minutes walk from Thong Lor BTS, Purr Cat Cafe Club is a cozy house located along the quiet residential street of Sukhumvit Soi 53. Well-hidden from sight by its green foliage, keep a look out for a sign on the left hand side of the road to enjoy a purrfect kitty meal at this feline cafe.
Before you enter, you would be first asked to take off your shoes,
But you can’t touch this kaypoh cat who is lazing by the entrance glass window yet.
You have to wash your hands at the basin
and read the Purr Rules. Else you would be fine 1,000 baht! The cafe take their cats’ welfare very seriously.
The entire place is split into a few sections. There is a Purr Salon to service the locals’ pet cats,
a shop selling cute feline themed lifestyle products
as well as products catered for cats like this book scratcher.
A homely dining area separates the retail area from the main cats activities zone.
There is also a lovely photo wall to satisfy camwhores.
The last but most fun part of the house is a large cat activities room with comfortable armchairs
and floor cushions for you to play with the resident cats.
The gentle and friendly cats at the cafe offers great interaction opportunities for the whole family.
The feline residents provided a lot of lovely photo-opportunities. Some of them literally performed the catwalk for you.
But remember not to use flash at all times else you may startle the cats.
And don’t disturb sleepy cats… they are extremely grouchy.
With cats as the main attraction, please do not have too high an expectation on the food. My pasta was really ordinary and my adorable kitty brownies are a little too dry for my liking.
Be prepared to dine with these gentle feline residents walk near your food.
Buy me a drink?
While interacting with the cafe staff, I realised that the cafe is owned by Rattanarat Uataweekul, a Thai actress. She is best known for her role in the Saturday night sitcom named Jood-nud-pob (Meeting Point).
