The Secret Musical, based on Jay Chou’s movie, Secret will be here in Singapore at The Mastercard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands from 6 to 15 April 2018. The Secret Musical is the first of its kind Chinese production to harness the power of pop music in a Broadway, jukebox musical format. The Secret invites you to travel through time with a student and piano major, Xianglun, and his beautiful and mysterious fellow student, Xiaoyu. A beautiful romantic love story unfolds as the secret that connects them is revealed.
The Secret is the first film production in Asia deemed adaptable by Broadway. While it stays true to the movie’s originality, the Broadway creative team added their own touch and invented new props and created a set based on the movie’s design. They also present a technological feat through special effects by re-creating a stunning travel through time and space. They have also included more songs, comedic dialogue, unexpected new plots and Broadway dance arrangements.
The musical has been created by a top Broadway team – directed by Tony award-winning director John Rando, adapted by famous American scriptwriter Marc Acito, choreographed by the acclaimed Zach Woodlee, set created by Tony award-winning set designer Beowulf Boritt, sound designed by Kinky Boots Tony award-winner John Shivers and produced by Tony award-winning producers Marc Routh and Simone Genatt for China’s multi-faceted entertainment company China Broadway Entertainment and JVR Entertainment.
